South Beach Brazilian Butt Lift (SoBeBL)

South Beach, Miami is a beautiful city known for its beautiful beaches and, of course beautiful women. It’s understandable that when we were looking for a name for our famous signature Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, South Beach BL (SoBeBL) was the obvious choice.

A PURE SoBeBL is for those that want a slimmer buttocks and hips than seen with a traditional BBL. We call it an enhanced natural aesthetic because we use the unique natural body shape and proportions of each patient as a guide to create more volume and projection to the buttocks so that it looks youthful, but not overdone. The buttocks is shaped in our signature upside-down heart, which creates a smaller waistline. The SoBeBL procedure is perfect for women who don’t have loads of fat, but still want to create a more youthful physical appearance.

The SoBeBL harvests fat from a patient’s body, including the lower back, hips, thighs, abdomen and flanks with liposuction. The fat is then purified and injected into the buttocks using a cannula and ultrasound technology to reshape, increase volume and create a fuller figured bottom.

Ultrasound Guided SoBeBl

At PURE, the SoBeBL like all BBL procedures is an ultrasound guided procedure. We have been using ultrasound technology since 2019 and we are pioneers in this technique in the U.S. We have performed more ultrasound guided BBLs than any other surgery practice in the country.

The BBL is considered to be a dangerous surgery because the gluteal anatomy is very complicated. Unlike other areas of the body, this area is made up of fat, blood vessels and muscle, which you are unable to see during surgery. The issue with the procedure is due to the blind spots and the risk of fat being injected into the muscle or blood vessels. Fat injected into the wrong places in the buttocks can cause severe damage, including pulmonary fat embolism. At PURE, our Ultrasound Guided BBLs use ultrasound technology to create a clear view with real-time images of the gluteal anatomy making our SoBeBL safer and decreasing the chances for issues to arise.

Another benefit to an ultrasound guided SoBeBL is that it improves patient results because it allows the surgeon to transfer fat into optimal areas of the buttocks and create the desired shape with better symmetry.

Optimal areas for injecting fat into the buttocks are called the safe space, located in the subcutaneous fat layer between the skin and muscle. The surgeon maps out these safe spaces based on the patient’s anatomy and the buttocks shape that will provide the desired results.

Do SoBeBLs take less time than typical BBLs?

Ultrasound guided SoBeBLs can take less time than typical BBLs because there is less fat to harvest and transfer. Where a typical BBL surgery can last between 1.5 to three (3) hours, a SoBeBL can be closer to the 1.5 to two (2) hour window. The less time a patient is in surgery and under anesthesia is a positive for the patient and the overall surgery. While surgery time may be a little less, recovery time is the same as well as expectations for pre-and post-op care.

Healing after a SoBeBL is no different than healing after a typical BBL. The day after surgery a patient can get up, walk around and clean drains. For six (6) weeks after surgery, patients are required to sleep on their stomachs to avoid disturbing fat cells and altering the shape of the new buttocks. The goal during this period is for optimal fat retention and healing. Patients should avoid putting any pressure on the gluteal region. This can be done by sitting on a special pillow and avoiding strenuous activity or heavy lifting during this time. After six (6) weeks all regular activities may resume.
