What Is Lipo 360?
Lipo 360 is a comprehensive body contouring procedure that uses liposuction to remove stubborn fat from the entire midsection in a single session.
“The ‘360’ refers to the circumferential approach,” explains Dr. Wegerif. “Lipo 360 targets the full abdomen, including flanks, waist and back, for a more proportional result.”
What makes Lipo 360 different is the overall effect. Contouring the front, sides and back together creates smoother transitions and a more cohesive result than spot-treating one area at a time. It follows the natural curve of your waist and abdomen to create a beautiful hourglass shape while avoiding the “boxy” look that can come from other approaches.
What Areas Does Lipo 360 Treat?
Lipo 360 reduces fat across the whole midsection to create more sculpted, balanced proportions. The core areas included in Lipo 360 at PURE include:
- The upper and lower abdomen
- The upper back, where excess fat can create “bra bulges”
- The waist and flanks to smooth out “love handles”
- Excess fat in the lower back that affects how clothing fits
Depending on your goals, additional areas can be treated during the same session. Common add-ons include the chin, upper arms, axillary (armpit) area, inner thighs and outer thighs. Lipo 360 is also frequently combined with a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) to enhance the size and shape of the buttocks while contouring the surrounding areas to create smooth, beautiful results.
Am I a Good Candidate for Lipo 360?
If you’re close to your goal weight but still have stubborn fat throughout the torso, you may be a great candidate for Lipo 360. At PURE, we also consider skin quality when determining candidacy, as your final results will depend on your skin’s ability to retract over your newly contoured midsection.
Other considerations include:
- Good overall health with no conditions that could impact healing
- Whether your goals and expectations are realistic
- An understanding that Lipo 360 is not a weight loss procedure
- A BMI within your surgeon’s operating range
Dr. Earle generally operates on patients with a maximum BMI of 30. Dr. Vidal’s maximum is 33.5, and Dr. Wegerif’s is 34. These limits may vary based on your medical history, surgical plan and other individual factors.
How Do I Know if I Need a Tummy Tuck or Lipo 360?
This is one of the most common questions we get, and the answer almost always comes down to skin quality. If you have relatively firm, tight skin and your main concern is stubborn fat, Lipo 360 is likely the better fit. But if you have loose, hanging skin or a belly “pooch,” usually caused by separated abdominal muscles, a tummy tuck will give you a more complete result.
Dr. Earle offers a quick self-check for skin quality: "Pinch the skin and see if it bounces back. If you can wiggle it around and shake it, that's probably loose skin. If it feels fairly tight and it bounces back like a trampoline, that's good skin quality."
Some patients are candidates for both, but Lipo 360 and a tummy tuck are not performed together at PURE. Florida limits liposuction to 1 liter when combined with an excisional procedure like abdominoplasty, which is not enough for full 360-degree contouring.
We recommend doing the tummy tuck first to address structural concerns (loose skin, muscle separation), then coming back later to refine the area with Lipo 360.
How Is Lipo 360 Done at PURE?
Every Lipo 360 begins with a tumescent solution, a mixture of saline and epinephrine that shrinks blood vessels, reduces bleeding and makes fat cells easier to remove. From there, the specific technique depends on your goals and your surgeon's recommendation.
VASER is frequently paired with Lipo 360. VASER uses ultrasound energy to make fat cells easier to remove. “It helps break up the fat and separate it from the connective tissue,” explains Dr. Wegerif. “It also provides some degree of skin tightening.” VASER is a great tool for precision sculpting and abdominal etching for patients who want more definition in their results.
Power-assisted liposuction (PAL) uses a vibrating cannula instead of ultrasound to break apart fat cells. It’s particularly effective for larger treatment areas or denser deposits of fat.
Can Lipo 360 Be Combined With Other Procedures?
Lipo 360 can be combined with other procedures or technologies when they support your goals. Some of our most popular pairings include a Lipo 360 BBL, fat transfer to the hip dips, and skin tightening with Renuvion or BodyTite.
Lipo 360 BBL
Fat removed from the torso during Lipo 360 can be purified and transferred to the buttocks to enhance volume, projection and overall shape. This procedure is commonly referred to as a Brazilian butt lift (BBL). At PURE, all fat transfer procedures are performed with ultrasound guidance to enhance precision and safety.
Hip Dip Fat Transfer
Fat can also be transferred to the outer hips to address hip dips, natural indentations where the hip meets the upper thigh. This creates a smoother transition between the waist, hips, and thighs for a more continuous silhouette.
Skin Tightening
BodyTite and Renuvion are skin-tightening devices that promote tissue contraction after liposuction. BodyTite uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to tighten the skin, while Renuvion uses RF energy and helium plasma. Both help the skin “bounce back” after lipo but neither is a replacement for a tummy tuck if more extensive sagging is present.

Your Surgery
Lipo 360 is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia at our Joint Commission-accredited surgical facility in Miami. Most procedures take one to two hours, depending on your surgical plan and whether it includes additional areas or fat transfer.
Your surgeon will begin by infusing the treatment areas with tumescent solution, then insert a thin cannula through small incisions to dislodge and remove fat. If VASER is being used, the ultrasound step happens first, followed by traditional suctioning. If fat transfer is part of your plan, the removed fat is purified and reinjected using ultrasound guidance.
Your Recovery
You'll go home the same day in a compression garment with detailed aftercare instructions. Soreness, swelling and drainage from the incision sites are all normal in the first few days. “When we do Lipo 360, we're treating the abdomen, the flanks and the back, so healing occurs across the entire torso," explains Dr. Vidal. You’ll come back for an in-person check-in after five days to ensure everything is going smoothly. If you traveled to Miami for your procedure, you’ll stay through this appointment before flying home.

How Do Compression & Massage Affect Lipo 360 Results?
Surgery creates the new contour, while post-op care determines how the tissues heal around it.
“What I do in the operating room gets compounded by what you do during the recovery period,” says Dr. Wegerif. “Getting your massages, wearing your compression garments, these things really make a huge difference in the final outcome of the procedure.”
Lymphatic massages help drain excess fluid to reduce swelling and make contour irregularities less likely. Dr. Vidal recommends at least 20 massages after a typical Lipo 360 procedure. Dr. Wegerif agrees: "20-plus lymphatic massages are going to make such a world of difference in your overall result." For your convenience, our team can help coordinate your post-op massages with our in-house certified manual lymphatic drainage therapist (CMLDT).
Compression garments support both drainage and skin retraction. They work by applying consistent pressure that gently pushes excess fluid back toward the heart, preventing it from settling in treated areas. After liposuction, compression garments are typically worn 24/7 for six weeks (except when showering), then for 12 hours a day after that for up to three months.
