Are you a good candidate for plastic surgery?
You’ve seen before and after photos on our social media pages, and now you are considering cosmetic surgery for yourself. The fact that you are reading this means you are conducting necessary research, which is the first step to being a good candidate for cosmetic procedures at Pure.
Prior to scheduling surgery, it is important to consider your expectations, health and wellness, available time for recovery and finances.
Choosing the right surgeon
In the U.S. there are more than 24,000 board certified physicians most likely to perform plastic surgery, and each one has their own aesthetic. No two surgeons are the same. That’s why it is important to choose a surgeon whose work you admire and who is qualified to perform the desired surgery safely.
Realistic goals and expectations
We want all surgeries to be successful. It is important for clients to begin with achievable goals based on body type, the nature of surgical recovery and compliance with Florida state safety laws. Some desired results may not be possible, and others may require more than one surgery. Part of our initial assessment of surgical candidacy at Pure is a healthy view of realistic outcomes.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
BMI measures body fat based on height and weight. The recommended BMI for a tummy tuck is less than 30. For a Brazilian butt lift, the optimal BMI is greater than 20, but less than 30 – so you have enough fat for the best results and to ensure you are within the range of safety. A BMI higher than 30 may create surgery and recovery complications. To make sure you meet the BMI requirements when booking your surgery, please click here for the BMI calculator.
Medical clearance and PCR COVID-19 test
We require a medical clearance from your primary care physician 45 days before your surgery. Depending on the procedure(s) and your current medical conditions, this may include a mammogram, chest x-ray and lab work. If you do not have a primary care physician – not to worry, there are many providers that conduct physical exams and will do the required lab work. Patients traveling from outside the U.S. must have full labs done in their country three (3) weeks before surgery AND labs upon arrival in the U.S.
All patients must have a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) Covid-19 test done within seven (7) days of surgery.
Please see here for a full list of medical requirements.
Time to recover
While we understand client excitement for immediate results and the desire to quickly return to regular scheduled activities, cosmetic surgery post-op requires time and patience for healing and recovery. Depending on the procedure(s), it is crucial to schedule time-off from work for adequate recovery and post-op appointments. For best results, you’ll need to refrain from strenuous activities to reduce further stress to the body and achieve desired results.
Finances
Cosmetic surgery can be a major financial decision that needs careful consideration. We have financing and payment options that may suit your financial needs.
Deciding to undergo cosmetic surgery requires time and consideration of your goals, as well as your health and life circumstances to determine readiness. If you have further questions regarding your candidacy for any procedures at Pure, please contact us at (305) 902-3432.
