Treating Cellulite After a BBL

For those seeking a beautifully contoured buttock area, a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) can offer impressive shape enhancements. However, even with an improved contour, some patients may still notice a bumpy or uneven skin texture, often referred to as cellulite. This common issue can influence the overall smoothness of the skin.

At PURE Plastic Surgery in Miami, we offer cellulite treatments with Avéli. This treatment is one of the most effective techniques available to help reduce cellulite, working alongside your BBL results to create a smoother, more refined appearance.

A Closer Look at Cellulite

Cellulite affects roughly 90% of women at some point, regardless of body type or fitness level. It appears as dimpled or uneven skin, typically in areas like the thighs, buttocks and abdomen. Cellulite forms when fibrous bands beneath the skin (called septa) pull down on the fat layers, creating an uneven surface. This structure of women’s skin makes it more susceptible to cellulite, but men can also experience this issue.

Several other factors also contribute to the appearance of cellulite. Genetics and family history can influence skin structure, circulation and fat distribution, all of which impact cellulite formation. Hormones, particularly estrogen, also contribute, as they can affect skin elasticity, fat storage and blood flow, increasing the visibility of cellulite. Lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, and stress can contribute to cellulite’s appearance by impacting muscle tone, skin health and circulation.

Can a BBL Cause Cellulite?

A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) itself does not cause cellulite, but it can sometimes make existing cellulite more noticeable. During a BBL, fat is transferred to the buttocks to enhance shape and volume. The way fat is redistributed in the buttock area may slightly shift the visibility of cellulite. After a BBL, patients may notice a difference in how cellulite looks and may want to address it. This is why adding a cellulite treatment later, like Avéli, can be beneficial.

Avéli for Cellulite After a BBL

Avéli is a cellulite removal treatment that targets the underlying cause of cellulite by releasing the fibrous bands beneath the skin. The Avéli treatment involves a small, guided device inserted just beneath the skin to reach the targeted fibrous bands. This approach enables the direct release of the septa without affecting surrounding tissue, resulting in a more even skin surface. Because Avéli addresses the structural cause of cellulite, it can be an effective option for smoothing the skin before or after a Brazilian butt lift, complementing your BBL results by enhancing the texture and appearance of the skin.

Can Avéli Be Performed During a BBL?

Avéli isn’t typically performed simultaneously with a Brazilian butt lift. Releasing the septa during a BBL and then immediately following with fat grafting underneath could result in uneven skin texture, with areas potentially bulging or "bubbling" outward. This is because the skin needs to “settle” after the septa have been released, allowing the treatment to take full effect without interference from added volume. However, in some cases, when cellulite is mild, Avéli may be done at the same time as your BBL. This decision will be made by your surgeon during your consultation.

To get rid of more extensive cellulite, we will need to allow a recovery period between these two treatments. By spacing them out, we help Avéli to have the desired impact on the skin’s texture. This approach leads to more natural, refined results, combining enhanced contour with even skin. Avéli can also be used in combination with other surgeries such as a tummy tuck.

How Many Avéli Treatments Will I Need?

Usually, only one Avéli treatment is needed to get rid of cellulite. If you have extensive areas of concern or a low tolerance for the procedure, we may split the treatment into multiple sessions. With each procedure, we prioritize your comfort, using local anesthesia to keep the area completely numb.

The Avéli Treatment Process for Cellulite After BBL

During the Avéli treatment, we begin by making a tiny entry point for the device, carefully placed in the area needing cellulite reduction. The device is inserted just beneath the skin and guided to the fibrous bands responsible for the dimpling effect. Once a band is located, we gently hook the device around it and tug slightly to confirm it’s causing the cellulite. After verification, a small blade within the device is activated to release the band, allowing the skin above to smooth out.

What to Expect After an Avéli Treatment

Following an Avéli treatment, patients may experience some bruising, swelling, and tenderness in the treated areas. The bruising fades over the next week or two. The skin may feel slightly sensitive as it adjusts, but there’s usually no need for extensive downtime. You can expect visible improvements in cellulite reduction as the skin begins to settle and the results of the treatment become more apparent.

Before and After Avéli

Why Choose Us for Avéli?

PURE Plastic Surgery is an Avéli Platinum Partner, which means we are among the top 1% of practices offering this anti-cellulite treatment in the United States. We are not only highly skilled in using Avéli to reduce cellulite but are also experienced in developing comprehensive treatment plans that fit each patient’s situation.

How Does Avéli Compare to Other Cellulite Treatments?

While some treatments use injections aimed at dissolving these bands, they often lack the precision of Avéli’s targeted release, and multiple treatments are needed to see a difference. Skin-tightening methods, such as radiofrequency and laser-based treatments, can improve the skin’s firmness but do not correct the root issue beneath the surface. Topical creams are generally limited to temporary improvements in skin texture and cannot penetrate deeply enough to affect fibrous bands. We choose Avéli because it addresses cellulite at its source.

Smooth Out Cellulite for Your Best Post-BBL Results

Avéli is a precise cellulite treatment that is especially beneficial for areas like the buttocks and thighs, providing visible results with minimal recovery time. Patients at PURE Plastic Surgery can feel confident knowing they’re receiving one of the most advanced options available for cellulite reduction.
